ABOUT
COPPER AND
HER
ART
Painting
in Ghost Town of Terlingua, Texas
Copper
has been painting
in plein-air
since the '70s. "Have
Palette, Will
Travel" is
her motto, carrying
her easel,
painting around
the world. She
also paints in
studio for more
detailed realistic
style. Creating
paintings invoking
memories, good
feelings,
peace... are
her goals.
Majoring
in Art for three
years in college
she then switched,
earning a degree
in Recreation
and a
minor in Art,
with the dream
of working for
the National
Park Service.
She
has been frequenting
the Texas
Big Bend area
since 1970, challenging
herself in capturing
the light and
soul of that
vast, magical region.
Also devoting time to painting Kerrville
and surrounding areas
you may see her
on the river trail
along the Guadalupe
or set up along a country road painting
the Hill Country.
Artists
who inspire her
through their
lives and works are Claude Monet,
Vincent VanGogh,
and Keith Richards.
"Copper's paintings are more than detailed reproductions of pretty scenes, rather they are a moment in her life. To walk through her gallery at her home in Texas is like walking through her private family album; there is a story to be told about each work." The Highlander
